As a general rule, an electric forklift is for indoor use while the diesel-powered forklifts are for outdoor application. If the load center is further out of 24 inches (it means that the load is 24 inches away from the back of the fork space), load center decreases. The dealer will help with the calculation of the load capacity.
- How high do you need to lift the load? Know the height you want the load to be lifted. As above 12 feet, most forklifts will start to decrease its capacity. Let sat for example if the rental forklift can lift 5,000 pounds, it can do that for about 12 feet, as it goes higher, it decreases in capacity, whatever that is.
