Bendi forklifts are a good choice for any business that needs to operate in tight spaces. This machine has many names, they’re also called Flexi, narrow aisle truck, pivot steer, articulated counterbalance.
With an innovative and compact design, this truck maximizes efficiency in terms of space, weight, and power. This is especially helpful when operating in confined areas such as warehouses, factories, stockyards or loading docks.
But anyone who intends to operate this machine must be trained first and have a licence. Do you have your Bendi forklift licence? If not, it is time to take the next step and get one.
The safety training course for getting your operator's license consists of three hours of classroom training followed by two hours on-site at the school where you will be trained on specific skills such as operating a power lift truck, handling various load weights or moving pallets using different techniques.
This course will teach you everything you need to know about operating a Bendi/Flexi safely, including best practices for getting the most out of your machine as well as how to avoid common mistakes made by inexperienced operators which could result in injury or even death.

Choose the Skill Level You Have
It is important to know what your skill set is in order to determine what type of training you will be taking. There are four (4) options you can choose from:
- Novice operator course – this is ideal for operators who are absolute beginners, and with little or no prior experience in the operation of Bendi/Flexi. This course can last up to 5 days because the program is more comprehensive.
- Experienced operator training – just the name implies, this training is suitable for operators who have prior experience operating this truck but had not undergone formal training. The composition of candidates in a training session usually is 3-5 and it takes a shorter time to complete compared to a novice course.
- Refresher course – if you have had your certificate and license on Bendi and need renewal, the refresher course is what you need to undergo. This training usually lasts for 1-2 days and a much shorter time is only needed comparing to the courses mentioned above.
- Conversion training – if you’re an operator who have had licence in counterbalance forklift, for example, and you want to be trained to operate Bendi/Flexi to include into your qualifications, then the conversion training is the one you need. The conversion training can be completed in a day or two.
How Much Does the Bendi Forklift Training Cost?
Forklift training is a great way to learn how to operate a forklift safely and efficiently. The Bendi forklift training cost will depend on the skill level you will be taking. See this page for more information.
A novice training course, which tends to be lengthy, costs around £450.00 per participant, while a refresher course which is much shorter in duration only costs around £200.00. the experienced operator course is £350.00 to take and the conversion training is just £250.00.
The figures vary depending on the provider and comprehensiveness of the training course.
You will also receive your certification at the end of the day! This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking for work in this field or just want to improve your skills as a forklift operator.
There are training providers across the country that can provide you the necessary training that earn you a licence in the end, please see the list above. The course can be conducted on-site or at their facility.
What are the Course Contents
In order to get a Bendi/Flexi forklift licence, the training participants must undergo four (4) phases: classroom instruction, practical exercises, and knowledge evaluation (written test) and performance assessment (practical test).
The participant will attend the class spearheaded by the instructor. Topics covered in the classroom instructions are Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), prevailing regulations, best safety practices, health and safety, and other relevant topics.
The second phase of the course is the practical exercises wherein participants will be given their time to operate the Bendi forklift, it is the behind-the-wheel exercises.
A written test may be administered to gauge the knowledge of the participants from the two (2) phases of the course. At the end is the performance assessment where the participants will be given sets of tasks to complete.
If both the written and performance assessments have been satisfactorily completed by the participants, they will be given a certificate of training completion, which most people referred to as the licence.
How Long Will Your Bendi Forklift Licence Last?
A Bendi forklift licence is valid for a minimum of 3 years. After this period, the driver must apply for renewal and undergo refresher training before they can continue to operate a forklift legally. If you are unsure as to how long your current licence will last or if it has already expired, give your preferred training provider a call so that they may help you with any queries related to your licence.
We would like you to take note that there’s no expiry date, but to maintain qualification, again, completion of the refresher course is needed.
How Old You Need to Be
Are you currently employed as a forklift operator and want to know how old you need to be in order for your employer to allow you on the job? Are you considering becoming an operator, but don't know what the requirements are?
Forklift operators typically have an age requirement of 18 years or older. This is the minimum age required by law, so if there's no state or local regulation that states otherwise, then it's likely that your company doesn't require any more than 16 years of age. However, some companies may set their own standards higher than this. For example, a company I’ve worked for before requires a person applying for a position as a forklift operator must be at least 18 years old.
If You’re an Employer, The On-site Training is Perhaps The Best Option to Take
The Bendi and other kinds of forklifts are some of the most dangerous machines in a warehouse, and it's important to train operators on how to use it safely.
The problem is that training for this machine takes time away from other work tasks. Training courses are expensive and inconvenient for both employers and operators. Also, many workers don't have time to attend training because they must take care of their families or work multiple jobs just to make ends meet.
The on-site forklift safety training solves all these problems by bringing the trainer right into your facility so operators can get trained immediately while working rather than having to leave the job site during business hours or taking off an entire day for training at another location outside your workplace.
This way you save money on labor costs by not having extra people standing around when there are things that need doing, plus the instructor comes right into your facility which means no travel expenses. Most importantly though, the goal is 100% employee participation so every operator in the workplace can receive the training.
The on-site forklift operator training program solves many of the problems by providing an affordable, quick, and easy way for your company's employees to learn how to drive safely. The instructor built their entire business model around this idea because they believe it's better than anything else out there right now.
To Make a Conclusion
Congratulations! You have just learned how and where you can get your Bendi forklift licence and are now ready to start your journey to be an operator. If you already have some experience driving other types of vehicles, this is the perfect opportunity for you to expand your skillset and earn more money at the same time.
